South Africa Crowned Winner At Feroz Shah Kotla Against West Indies – Won by 7 Wickets

In today’s World Cup Group B clash between South Africa and West Indies, South Africa easily chased the winning score of 223 runs by West Indies and won today’s match by 7 wickets in Feroz Shah Kotla stadium in Delhi. After winning the toss South African Captain Graeme Smith chose to field first.

1st Innings

In the first innings where West Indies was offered to bat, Bravo set his feet with a couple of carefully peeked boundaries and scored 55 out of 50 balls in 16th over, this is his third match in One Day Internationals. He scored a good sum of 73 runs out of 96 balls and was run out for the ball from Botha of South Africa. Before Bravo, opening batsman Smith turned to Tahir and Sarwan took his position. He just stared but unfortunately he turned for the ball from Tahir too. When Bravo was out the West Indies were on 178 for 5 wickets and they were in their 38th over. After that West Indies somehow made it to the score of 222 with the help of Chanderpaul and DJ Bravo. In 47.3 overs they were all out and total run rate was 4.67 per over. So the total score of West Indies after first innings was 222 for all down.

2nd Innings

South Africa began its innings with opening batsmen Amla and Smith. Amla quickly added 14 runs out of 15 balls to his account with couple of good boundaries. Smith added 45 runs to the total score out of 78 balls with couple of boundaries as well. AB de Villiers who was declared the man of the match scored his 10th century in ODI. Along with a partnership with Duminy he was successful in scoring 107 runs for 105 balls with 8 boundaries and couple of sixes. At the end of South African innings, AB de Villiers and Duminy were not out.

At the end in 42.5 overs South Africa chased the winning score of 223 runs by losing only 3 wickets. South Africa won the match against West Indies by 7 wickets on Thursday 24th March.
